October Update - The Song of The Fae
Hello everyone!
Has it only been a month since the last update? Apparently! Seems like a lot has happened. We launched into Early Access on Steam and had our first brave batch of players battletest the game.
All things considered, it actually went pretty smoothly! Since then we've shipped 4 patches (roughly one a week) with the following changes:
Fixed Cormag's stat block placement
Fixed softlock when Bard is killed by Cormag's charge
Cormag gains +2 ATK when angered
Cormag can move further
Clarified event log messages
Added in-game help menu + online manual
New mountain biome map: "Ridge"
Buff and debuff names appear during overhead during combat
Unit tooltip displays full trait description
New mountain biome map: "Corner"
Expanded map generation possibility space
New swamp biome maps: "4 Islands" + "Ring"
Tweaked run generation, suggest shops and mazes when most useful
Introduced 8 new unit traits: Xenophobe, Guarded, Complementarian, TeamWarded, Bloodbound, Bloodblessed, Bloodblocked, Bloodbuilt
As we get into a steady rhythm I'd like to pick a regular update cadence and stick to it, I'm not 100% sure what that regularity will be yet but I'm thinking either fortnightly or monthly.
Speaking of updates, we're working on our first content update: the desert biome. This will include new terrain, maps, mechanics, enemies and a boss(!!). We expect this to be done by the end of November but we will announce a more concrete date when we have one.
In the meantime we will continue to patch the game, including a small patch coming this week! I heard from a few of our players that the music controls were difficult to use. I've added a mute, play/pause and skip button to put control at your fingertips.
Overall we've been thrilled by how supportive everyone has been, we're excited to keep delivering more content for SoTF and keep you all guessing. If you haven't picked the game up yet please consider doing so then come let us now what you think on Discord!
Oh, and you can catch development sessions live with Ben on twitch every Wednesday at 1pm AEST.
Hope you had a sufficiently spooky Halloween, we'll see you next time.
Cheers,
Ben + Ricky
PS, we still have a Patreon if you'd prefer to support development that way :)
